Education
Dr. Taylor attended Mercer University for college where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. After college he attended Augusta University Dental College of Georgia, where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2013.
After college he was awarded a full scholarship through the United States Army, an opportunity that proved to be life changing and still is part of his life today.
While in dental school he met his wife, Kelly Baker who was enrolled in the Physical Therapy program. She grew up and still has family in Roswell, Ga. They got married right after graduating in 2013.
Residency
An Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) is a 1 year residency through the Army and located in Tacoma, Washington at Ft. Lewis. This is added education that provided hands on instruction in more complicated dental procedures, one on one training with specialist and professional lectures as a speaker.
After residency and from 2014-2018 he was stationed at Ft. Belvoir in Alexandria, Virginia at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic. Here, he provided dentistry for all members of the Armed Forces stationed in and around Washington, DC. This was a foundational time in his career and one that still effects his clinical decisions for the highest quality.
Advanced Training
The Augusta University AAID Maxi Course is a nationally acclaimed program, geared to providing the dental practitioner with all of the clinical skills and didactic, evidenced based knowledge needed to integrate dental implants. When compared to similar courses, the Augusta University nine month continuum course is extremely unique because of its “hands-on”, live patient experience.
Army Life
Dr. Taylor is also a soldier in the Georgia Army National Guard and continues to drill monthly at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Ga. During the summer of 2020 in conjunction with partner forces Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) he was deployed to Iraq. He was stationed at Al Asad Air Base in the Al Anbar region of western Iraq and served as sole dental provider for approximately 3000 American, Spanish, Danish and German Soldiers.
